West Down House is an impressive, 16th century manor standing in 5 1/2 acres of lovely grounds with extensive lawns, trees and shrubs, creating hidden corners where you can relax, one of which includes a barbecue. There is a large, fenced, solar heated OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL, with a sun terrace, which is open May to September. There are three little cottages within the grounds, each with its own garden. Each one has been tastefully furnished to reflect the character and individuality. All the master bedrooms have 4-poster beds with co-ordinating drapes. It is a peaceful location and yet within easy reach of some of the West Country's most spectacular coastal scenery with Sandymouth Bay just six miles away. To the north the enchanting fishing village of Clovelly has a cluster of white-washed cottages and a narrow High Street paved with pebbles from the beach. Across the border into Cornwall, the wide, sandy beaches are bounded by the white topped Atlantic rollers making it a paradise for surfers. The Groom's Cottage (to the left of the photograph) is a traditional, character cottage built of natural stone and forming part of the original courtyard. The attractive open-plan Lounge/Kitchen/Diner has a woodburning stove.

West Down House has a filtered spring water supply which is tested on an annual basis.

Swimming: There is a large, fenced, solar heated, outdoor swimming pool with a sun terrace which is open May to September.

Gardens: You are free to use all the gardens surrounding the manor and the barbecue area.

Accommodation: Ground Floor: Lounge/Kitchen/Diner. First Floor: Bedroom 1 with double four-poster bed. Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Bathroom with bath, WC and washbasin.
