West Down House is an impressive, 16th century manor standing in five acres of lovely grounds with extensive lawns, trees and shrubs, creating hidden corners where you can relax, one of which includes a barbecue. There is a large, fenced, solar heated OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL, with a sun terrace, which is open May to September. There are three cottages within the grounds, each with its own garden. It is a peaceful location and yet within easy reach of some of the West Country's most spectacular coastal scenery with Sandymouth Bay just six miles away. To the north the enchanting fishing village of Clovelly has a cluster of whitewashed cottages and a narrow, winding street paved with pebbles from the beach. Across the border into Cornwall, the wide, sandy beaches are bounded by the white-topped Atlantic rollers making it a paradise for surfers.

The Butler's Pantry is a cosy cottage adjoining the main manor house; a spiral staircase leads to the pretty, beamed bedroom, which has an en-suite bathroom. The open plan living area has a woodburning stove making it an ideal retreat for two, whatever the time of year.
