Othery is at the heart of The Somerset Levels, a unique and beautiful landscape of low-lying wetlands, rich in wildlife. Meadows, edged by "rhynes", the local term for water courses, overhung by willow trees, interspersed with attractive villages, create a tranquil and timeless atmosphere. Gentle, quiet, undulating roads and byways make this perfect countryside for walking or cycling and anglers can enjoy some excellent coarse fishing from the banks of the many rivers. Local industries include cider making and withy growing for basket industries, which you can learn all about at the nearby "Willow and Wetlands Visitor Centre". Tor View Barn is a newly converted, detached property on the edge of Othery. As many of the original, character features as possible have been retained, at the same time incorporating excellent modern facilities and comfortable, attractive furnishings. The dining area of the barn opens onto a patio and small lawn, which have a view of the Polden Hills.

There are numerous and varied places of interest in this lovely location: National Trust properties include Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House and Stembridge Tower Mill. At Wells, England's smallest city, you can enjoy a magnificent cathedral, unusual shops and historic inns. Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Longleat, Stourhead House, Bath and Street will all provide a lovely day out. Should you have a yen to look at the sea there are seven miles of sandy beach at Burnham-on-Sea.
