Situated in the quiet hamlet of Wookey at the foot of the Mendip Hills, The Old Cider Barn has been transformed into a charming cottage which is ideal for couples or small families. Designed to a very high standard throughout with a small, enclosed garden and parking for two cars, The Old Cider Barn is light, spacious and very comfortable. All rooms are bright and cheerful, with a variety of colours and textures including a dark, leather suite, traditional pine furniture and pretty, pastel bed linens. The handmade wooden staircase and a selection of lovely paintings all add to the ambience of the cottage and were created by local artists. Much thought and consideration has been given to guests’ comfort during their stay, with practical extras including an exterior safety gate and a storage rack for muddy boots or shoes! The spectacular caves at Wookey Hole are not to be missed, with something for everyone! See the Witch of Wookey, wander through the Valley of the Dinosaurs or travel through time in the fascinating Cave Museum. As well as a nature reserve, Cheddar Gorge also has caves featuring endangered Greater Horseshoe bats. Glastonbury Abbey is set in 36 acres of beautiful, peaceful parkland and the magnificent gardens at Milton Lodge have outstanding views of Wells Cathedral and the Vale of Avalon.

For a relaxing journey through the Somerset countryside, the East Somerset Steam Railway is most enjoyable. The quiet, village pub is just a stones throw from The Old Cider Barn and The Wookey Hole Inn, just two miles away, has a walled sculpture garden and offers a wide range of beers, cider and locally produced food, with musical entertainment on a regular basis.
