Situated close to the village of Haytor Vale and approached along a rhododendron-lined drive this detached property is both cosy and interesting. Originally built as a prayer house, part of the Wills tobacco family estate, for many years it was left unused. It has since been sympathetically renovated to create a holiday home that is full of character. The main hall is now an open plan room with a vaulted ceiling, painted timber panels to the walls and a parquet herringbone floor providing studio style accommodation. A large woodburner on a granite hearth provides a warming focal point. There is a separate Shaker style kitchen and a modern shower room. To the side of The Chapel is a pretty, enclosed seating area and a small sloping garden. Haytor with its huge rocks is popular with walkers, climbers and day-trippers, but come the evening all its ancient magic and mystery return for those living there to enjoy. The village of Haytor Vale and the traditional welcoming Rock Inn is just a short walk away. Ashburton and Bovey Tracey are interesting nearby towns, with a selection of small shops. For walks further afield Becky Falls, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Poundsgate, Postbridge and Holne all have a lot to offer. The Church House Inn at Holne has good food and most of the local pubs welcome dogs. This cottage is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet with rustic charm and a genuine moorland experience.
