Visitors to Surridge Farm will be stepping back in time when they stay at this wonderful Grade II listed detached farmhouse, dating back to the 17th century. The warm and homely character of this spacious, traditionally furnished property will embrace you the moment you cross the threshold. The accommodation boasts inglenook fireplaces and exposed beams, as well as original window seats and the odd wonky floor. The comfortable, 29ft long sitting room has two fireplaces, one housing a large woodburner for the colder months. The dining room, with a handsome period sideboard and an extending dining table, also has the benefit of a woodburner. In the kitchen, there is a choice of a classic Aga or a conventional oven and hob and guests can keep the cook company in the adjacent breakfast room. The farmhouse is surrounded by more than 80 acres of undulating pasture and woodland, in a truly secluded and peaceful setting, where the energetic can scale the sloping back garden passing the (unfenced) natural pond and discover an Iron Age fort on the hill above. The front garden has a south-facing terrace on two levels, with timber garden furniture and an illuminated six person hot tub for relaxing outdoors. A small cottage within the grounds is currently let.

Nearest Coastline: The beaches at Watchet, Blue Anchor Bay and Minehead.

Tourist Attractions: Outdoor activities at Wimbleball Lake Country Park on Exmoor. Clay pigeon shooting and cheese making courses at a local farm. The National Trust’s Knightshayes Court and Gardens. Seaside fun and fossil hunting on the North Somerset coast. Water sports at Wimbleball Lake.
