Smithywood Cottage is a semi-detached property, situated in a beautiful valley, surrounded by magnificent woodland within the fascinating Broomhill Sculpture Gardens, one of Devon’s leading Art Centres. With over 300 exhibits within walking distance, Smithywood Cottage is also ideal for exploring numerous other attractions in North Devon. The cottage is welcoming, comfortable and excellent value for money. Each room is traditionally furnished and the bright conservatory is perfect for painting, reading or just relaxing. The circular woodburner is unavailable for guests’ use for safety reasons, but an Aga is available during the cooler months if required (by prior arrangement with the owner). A raised level lawn to the rear of the cottage, accessed via steps, makes a great play area where younger children should be supervised at all times. There is also a small farm nearby and neighbouring fields with horses, geese, chickens and sheep.

For wining, dining and entertainment, the Broomhill Hotel offers a variety of menus and events throughout the year, including art exhibitions, food fairs, festivals and Jazz concerts. Enjoy a meal at the Muddiford Inn nearby, or a fish supper from the award-winning chip shop in Pilton.

Nearest Coastline: Sandy surfing beaches at Saunton, Croyde Bay, Putsborough and Woolacombe. Braunton Burrows sand dunes.

Tourist Attractions: Watermouth Castle, Elliot Gallery, North Devon Maritime Museum, The Big Sheep, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, picturesque Lynton, Lynmouth and Exmoor. Shopping at Atlantic Village. Golf Courses at Saunton and Ilfracombe. Blakewell Fishery and Water Gardens.
