Smithy Cottage, originally the blacksmith's home, dates from the mid 19th century. It has been renovated to provide a charming, stone-built cottage tucked away at the end of a quiet lane on the edge of Abbotsham, close to the North West Devon coast. Pine furniture is used throughout the cottage, complemented by stripped pine doors, terracotta and cream soft furnishings and a pretty, Victorian, open fire in the lounge. The spacious bathroom has a large walk-in shower and a corner Jacuzzi bath. There is a small gravelled garden to the front of the cottage. Abbotsham's ancient thatched pub and local shop are a few minutes' walk and the coast path is just one mile away.

	There are plenty of beaches and rugged coastline to explore and from Bideford you can book a boat trip to visit the National Trust Island of Lundy, famous for its puffins. The nearby Tarka Trail provides over 30 miles of off road cycle track along the banks of the River Torridge; bikes can be hired in Bideford. For shopaholics there are local markets and the Atlantic Village, a discount outlet with excellent facilities for children. The Big Sheep is a popular farm centre for children, gardeners may want to visit the RHS centre at Rosemoor and all the family will enjoy the narrow cobbled streets at Clovelly and the Arthurian legends at Tintagel.
