Silver Barn is a single storey property in the quiet, rural hamlet of Hewton on the banks of the River Tamar. A short walk from the property will allow you to sit at the riverside and admire the passing river craft or watch the abundant variety of bird life at the ebb and flow of the tide. Silver Barn has high raftered ceilings, white washed walls and pine woodwork. Crisp, fresh white linens adorn the beds and each bedroom has an en-suite bath or shower room. The open plan living room is light and airy and there are large picture windows and doors to the pretty garden. The small town of Bere Alston, less than 2 miles away, has shops, pubs and its own railway station from which you can take a delightful trip down the valley to Plymouth. Places of local interest include Buckland Abbey, home of Sir Francis Drake, Cotehele House owned by the National Trust and for gardening enthusiasts the famous Garden House at Buckland Monachorum. At nearby picturesque Bere Ferrers there is a popular waterside pub and the "living museum" at Morwellham Quay has historic interest for all ages and a ride through a copper mine.
