Picturesque Mevagissey is an ancient fishing port
with a bustling working harbour and narrow winding streets filled
with interesting shops, cafes and restaurants. In an elevated
position, about half a mile from the village centre is Sea View, an
attractive, semi-detached, dormer bungalow. The property overlooks a
large grassy common with views that encompass Mevagissey Bay and St
Austell Bay. Inside, the choice of colours, pictures and ornaments
reflect a seaside theme, which is cheerful and welcoming. Upstairs,
the double bedroom is open to the stairs and has an en-suite
bathroom with bath and shower cubicle. Sea View has an enclosed,
sunny patio at the rear and parking is usually available on the
quiet road outside the house. The village of Mevagissey is flanked
on both sides by bays with sandy beaches. To the north is Pentewen
Sands and to the south the quieter beach at Portmellon. Anyone
wishing to bring bikes to make the most of the local cycling can
store them safely at Sea View. For young families there is a small
children’s play area on the common.
Nearest Coastline: The beaches of
Mevagissey Bay including Pentewan Sands and Portmellon.
Tourist Attractions: Mevagissey Museum
depicts the village’s fishing and smuggling history. The Eden
Project, Caerhays Castle and Gardens. The Lost Gardens of Heligan
are nearby and can be reached by a delightful woodland walk from the
village. The South West Coast Path and many scenic cycle paths can
be joined at Mevagissey. |
