At the end of a row of three converted barns, Rowan Barn is in a quiet, rural location on the edge of the popular village of Chideock. A ten minute walk along a footpath, across the adjacent fields, leads to the coast path at Seatown and the Anchor Inn, a popular pub overlooking the beach. The barn is light and airy, furnished in a contemporary style with pastel shades and complemented by splashes of colour in the soft furnishings and some striking artwork. The sun streams into the living room through the patio doors, which give access to a gravelled garden; the pretty garden is fenced and has a table and chairs and ornamental plants. There is a shared recreational lawn nearby and there are two designated parking spaces. Chideock is a charming village with two pubs, a shop and many public footpaths, which access the surrounding countryside.

	A little further afield is Lyme Regis, with its historic harbour, where you can hire motorboats and fishing trips are available. Thomas Hardy's Dorchester, Forde Abbey and Gardens and the Swannery and Tropical Gardens at Abbotsbury are all worth a visit. At Charmouth the Heritage Coast Centre has displays that include a fossil wall, a Jurassic sea mural and live cuttlefish; the centre promotes safe and responsible fossil collecting and organises regular guided walks.
