Location Map

Rose Cottage is a detached, white-washed, 17th century
cottage close to the picturesque River Yealm. Beside the
cottage, safely fenced and gated from the garden, there is a
lake created by a breakwater across part of the river; the
lake is specifically used as a bird sanctuary. Along the
uneven path that surrounds the lake there are picnic tables
and seats and you can sit and fish for mullet, crabs and
eels (bring your own fishing tackle) from the breakwater.
The river scene changes with the ebb and flow of the tide;
at low tide you can see a variety of water birds including
ducks, swans, herons, kingfishers and egrets. Inside, Rose
Cottage is beautifully furnished in traditional English
country cottage style. There are oak floors, rugs, a wood
burner and lovely views from many of the rooms. To the rear
and side of the property are paved areas where children can
play or you can enjoy a drink or meal whilst watching life
on the river. There are sandy beaches at Wembury and
Bovisand, and the magnificent scenery will delight walkers
on the coastal path. Plymouth offers theatres, shops, an ice
rink, The National Marine Aquarium and the historic Barbican
where cafés, restaurants and shops line the cobbled streets.
The Dartmoor National Park is a short drive away, or cross
the Tamar Bridge to explore Cornwall and visit the Eden
Project. |
