Picturesque Boscastle is set in a glen where the rivers Jordan and Valency converge before meeting the sea. The National Trust owns the tiny fishing harbour and there are superb walks along the cliffs, which rise up on either side. Riversbrink is in the centre of old Boscastle and has an abundance of quaint, Cornish charm! The lounge has an open fireplace and there is a patio courtyard outside, where a barbecue is provided. Boscastle is an ideal location for surfers or would be surfers; lying midway between Bude and Newquay, famous for their waves and long sandy beaches, there are plenty of surf schools to teach beginners or help the more experienced. Nearby Trebarwith Strand has a sheltered sandy beach and at Crackington Haven the ebbing tide leaves rock pools teeming with life. Just to the south of Boscastle is Tintagel, legendary birthplace of King Arthur. The castle on the headland dates from 1145 and the legend is augmented by Merlin's Cave below.
