River Cottage dates back to the 17th century
and was originally a hay barn. It has been thoughtfully
converted retaining many of the original beams, creating a
property with lots of charm and character. The owners, who live
next door, take pride in the gardens and grounds of River
Cottage and as you drive up to the property you cannot fail to
notice the pretty, peaceful location. River Cottage has a
private courtyard incorporating the barbecue area with table and
chairs. A delightful mill stream meanders around the bottom of
the owners’ garden, which guests are welcome to share.
It is just over a mile to Stogursey where you
will find a local shop, a Post Office and two pubs. There are
plenty of wonderful places to visit in this picturesque part of
Somerset. For keen bird watchers, Stert Flats has an abundance
of wildlife and if you want to absorb the sea views it is just a
mile to the West Somerset Coast Path. Coarse and trout fishing
are available at Burton Springs, a private lake approximately
three miles away.
Nearest Coastline: Bridgwater Bay,
Watchet Harbour and the beaches at Minehead and Burnham-on-Sea.
