River Cottage dates back to the 17th century and was originally a hay barn. It has been thoughtfully converted, retaining many of the original beams, creating a property with a lot of charm and character. The owners, who live next door, take pride in the gardens and grounds of River Cottage and, as you drive up to the property, you cannot fail to notice the pretty, peaceful location; the perfect holiday retreat.

The millstream meanders around the bottom of the shared garden, which is sure to delight both adults and children; a lovely spot for some old fashioned, family fun dipping toes in the cool water or a family picnic. Stolford is just over a mile from Stogursey where you will find a local shop, butcher, post office, two public houses and St Andrew’s church. The church is steeped in history and is a legacy of the Benedictine Priory that existed in the village. There are plenty of wonderful places to visit in this picturesque part of Somerset. For keen bird watchers, Stert Flats has an abundance of wildlife and if you want to absorb the sea views it is just a mile to join the West Somerset Coast Path. The nearby resorts of Minehead and Burnham-on-Sea will provide all the fun of the seaside, whilst the Quantock Hills are quite breathtaking and are also the first region to be awarded the national status of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Mediaeval Dunster is charming with the historic Norman Castle in the centre of the town. There are a number of family attractions within easy reach including Court Farm Country Park, near Weston-Super-Mare, which offers tractor rides, pony rides and ferret shows and Tropiquaria Animal and Adventure Park in Watchet, for those brave enough to hold a tarantula! For a truly exhilarating day Brean Leisure Park, with over 40 rides, will certainly fit the bill!
