Quillet, which is Cornish for small meadow, is a detached
bungalow on a traditional Cornish beef farm, located opposite the main
farmhouse and cattle shed. The setting is wonderful, just half a mile from
the coast and within the West Penrith Environmentally Sensitive Area.
The bungalow has its own private garden, which is bordered
on three sides by fields, across and beyond the fields there are panoramic
views of the sea. The lounge, which has a woodburner, and the pretty double
bedroom, have the same lovely views.
The nearby coast path will take you to the sandy beach at
Portheras Cove, to Boat Cove or Pendeen Watch Lighthouse. Geevor, just
outside Pendeen, has the largest mining history centre in Britain; there are
underground tours of Wheal Mexico, which show how miners worked in the 18th
century, a museum and surface mining equipment.

By car you can take the spectacular
coast road, passing through Zennor, to St Ives and visit the Tate
Gallery, Barbara Hepworth’s home and garden where there are many
displays of her work or amble the cobbled streets and dip into art
shops, boutiques and cafés offering local shell fish. From Penzance
it is possible to take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly or explore
nearby Mousehole and The Land’s End Experience. An evening spent at
the Minack Theatre, dramatically set into the cliffs at Porthcurno,
will prove memorable.
