The historic port of Topsham is on the beautiful Exe Estuary, close to the cosmopolitan city of Exeter. This small town has riverside pubs, restaurants, tearooms and an open air heated swimming pool (open mid May-mid September). Within a short walk of the local amenities and the river is Quay Gardens, a large, detached farmhouse situated at the end of a private lane. Built in the 1700s, the house retains much of the original character and charm, with the benefit of under floor heating downstairs. The lounge has an open fire and views to the garden. The kitchen/diner has a range cooker with a five-burner gas hob, a large farmhouse table and doors opening onto the patio. On the first floor there are three bedrooms, two with en-suite facilities. A further two bedrooms and shower room are on the third floor, in the eaves of the house, with sloping ceilings and low beams; you may need to mind your head entering the shower room. There is a lawn to the front of the farmhouse and a patio with table and chairs at the rear. The drive is shared with the owner's who have a studio within the grounds.

Nearest Coastline: The pretty port of Topsham, the beaches at Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth.

Tourist Attractions: National Trust properties at A La Ronde and Killerton House. The mediaeval Powderham Castle and Escot Gardens, Crealy Adventure Park and Bicton Park. A lovely day out from Topsham is the ‘Round Robin’ boat and train trip to the seaside resort of Exmouth.
