Porch
Cottage
Porch Cottage is a pretty, thatched Grade II listed 16th century cottage. Full of history, legend has it that King Charles II slept here in 1651 as he hid from Cromwell's forces after losing the Battle of Worcester whilst he made his escape to France. Porch Cottage is one of five cottages in an L- shaped terrace on the main road to Branscombe and Beer in the centre of the village; it is in a fabulous location for exploring East Devon and is within walking distance of two pubs and a fish and chip shop! A parking permit is provided for the village car park; about 30 seconds walk from the cottage. This permit can be used in all East Devon car parks. Inside, Porch Cottage has retained its charming, character atmosphere and is a delightful mix of traditional and modern, with low ceilings and beams and a window seat in the lounge, combined with spacious bedrooms and a modern, attractive bathroom. |
