Cheriton Bishop is set amidst rolling countryside deep in the heart of Devon yet is within ten miles of the cosmopolitan City of Exeter and an easy drive to the stunning beaches and bustling resorts on the South Devon coast. Situated on the eastern edge of Dartmoor this small, rural village has a Post Office, shop, a twice-monthly crafts and local produce market and two pubs, both popular for food. Dartmoor is an exceptionally beautiful place to visit throughout the year with deep wooded gorges, sheltered valleys and tumbling rocky rivers. Activities abound with golf, fishing, horse riding, walking and climbing as well as an amazing number of visitor attractions. Poleford Cottage is situated a ¼ mile from the village centre and is an attractive, detached property adjacent to the owner’s home. There are an acre of gardens with a stream, which you are welcome to enjoy and meet the owner’s friendly goats, chickens and sheep. The cottage is a lovely standard throughout; the small open plan living area offers comfort and character with wood beams, an electric woodburner, television with Freeview and a CD player. There is a pretty bedroom, a fresh, contemporary bathroom and a private patio with table and chairs. With no steps into, or within, the cottage it is suitable for those less able. The local area is ideal for those wishing to bring their dogs. A short stroll from the cottage is a lovely walk along a bridle path through woodlands. If its beaches you crave then the popular resorts of Dawlish and Teignmouth are within easy reach. History, heritage and beautiful gardens can be explored at the nearby National Trust properties. Castle Drogo is perched high over the Teign Gorge with dramatic views over Dartmoor and the beautiful gardens at Killerton House are open all year. |
