Fronted by colourful flower borders, with a backdrop of the beautiful rural Dorset landscape, Pilsdon and Lewesdon are two pretty cottages, in the grounds of Higher Park Farm. Each cottage has a private, enclosed garden with a lawn, bordered by shrubs and flowers. Inside, the lounges are comfortably furnished and each has a woodburner and patio doors to the gardens. The farm covers 30 acres and supports horses, sheep, ducks and chickens. Fresh vegetables and eggs can be bought when available. National Trust land abounds in this area, including Lewesdon Hill and Pilsdon Hill from which the cottages take their names. It is ideal terrain for walkers, cyclists, naturalists and bird lovers. Broadwindsor has a popular craft centre where local artisans make and sell their crafts.

There are three golf courses within ten miles and fishing and sailing are available at Bingham Reservoir. The dramatic West Dorset Heritage Coast provides some spectacular scenery, which may be experienced along the South West Coast Path.

Within easy driving distance are the seaside towns of West Bay, with its golden sands, and Lyme Regis, with its historic Cobb harbour; there is excellent fossil hunting at the beach here and at Charmouth. Higher Park Farm makes an excellent base for touring West Dorset, East Devon and South Somerset. Within a short drive are Bridport, Beaminster, Chard, Forde Abbey, Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park and the Swannery at Abbotsbury.
