Seatown is just a ten-minute drive away and is steeped in history.
The Anchor Inn, originally a smugglers' haunt, and the cottages above,
were formerly the Coastguard Station. The beach is a great place for
fishing and searching in rock pools. Charmouth is four miles away and
offers a safe, sandy beach and the chance of finding fossils.
Nearby Bridport is a vibrant and colourful town and an ideal place to
browse and shop. A bright and colourful market is held in Bridport every
Wednesday and Saturday. One mile south of the town is West Bay, once
called Bridport Harbour; a pretty harbour village packed with fun and
activities. It's the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and the busy
waterfront, with characteristic kiosks, buzzes on a summer day.
West Dorset remains a rural delight with lovely undulating scenery,
country villages, historic small towns and a large choice of visitor
attractions. Seaton Tramway is enchanting, Mangerton Mill, a 17th
century working mill, will transport you back in time and the Abbotsbury
Swannery will ensure a wonderful day out.
