Nestling in the quiet hamlet of Acton, just a mile from the sea and cliffs, which have the delightful name Dancing Ledge is Nine Barrow View, one of a small terrace of cottages built in traditional style of local Purbeck stone. The cottage has its own spacious garden and private parking. Acton is part of a conservation area and from the cottage you will enjoy lovely views across the Purbeck Hills, including Nine Barrow Down with its Neolithic burial mounds. There are many excellent walks along coastal paths or through charming villages - three inns lie within a mile and a half. Swanage has a lovely sandy beach together with many other attractions, including shops, restaurants and inns, a theatre and an extensive range of sports facilities. At nearby Studland Bay the fine sand is almost white and the warm shallow waters are ideal for bathing. Bournemouth is an all year round resort and Poole, with its famous harbour, is a 'boaties' dream.

The National Trust now owns Corfe Castle, just over two miles from Acton; the castle stands majestically above the village of Corfe and is surrounded by wonderful walks, while the well-planned visitor centre offers a fascinating history lesson. This is Dorset at its finest, where the chalk downs meet the sea, providing magnificent natural sculptures such as Durdle Door and the almost circular Lulworth Cove
