Hidden in a quiet, country lane in a lush South Devon valley
with views of horses and cows, Moorstead Cottage is the perfect place to
enjoy a relaxing, peaceful holiday. Adjacent to the owner's house, yet
totally self-contained and private, it has its own parking area and a
delightful garden, which is a real suntrap. The historic hamlet of Compton
is set between the lively resorts of Torbay, the market town of Newton Abbot
and the ancient moorland town of Ashburton, making it a perfect location for
a beach, touring or walking holiday. |

The National Trust now owns much of Compton and the fairytale castle at its
centre. In 1995 the castle was the location for the film Sense and
Sensibility and it is open to the public three days a week in the summer
months. The old Castle Barton is now a restaurant, well known for its
excellent English food, and the Church House Inn at Marldon is a superb
blend of traditional and continental chic, with a warm welcome and tasty
meals. A visit to South Devon would not be complete without a cruise down
the River Dart from Totnes to Dartmouth or a meander around Brixham harbour.
Alternatively if you just fancy a lazy day on the beach you will be spoilt
for choice!
