Sympathetically converted from former stables, this delightful, detached cottage dates back to 1887. The cottage and a 14th century flourmill, complete with water wheel and many of the original workings, share a courtyard and three and a half acres of grounds with the owner's house. The extensive gardens are bordered by meadowland, a pond, a stream and a leat and are backed by open countryside and the single track Tarka Railway Line; there is a request stop at Lapford and from here you can take the train on scenic routes to Exeter or Barnstaple. Inside, the cottage has Devon slate tiled floors on the ground floor, with a rug in the cosy lounge adding warmth in the winter months. A pine dresser and centre table complement the wooden cupboards in the kitchen. The pretty bedrooms have beams and vaulted ceilings. Lapford is equidistant from the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. Nearby are the National Trust properties of Knightshayes Court and Killerton House. The cathedral city of Exeter is a short drive away and at Tiverton, you can take a ride on a horse drawn narrow boat along the Great Western Canal.
