Maxdene is a lovely family home in the charming riverside village of Newton Ferrers. Set on a hill, it has a large garden accessed by several steps, which includes a patio, perfect for barbecues and a large lawn. Part of the house is set out as a self-contained apartment with a bedroom, lounge, bathroom and small kitchen making it ideal for the extended family. Although there are a few steps to the front door, the ground floor bedrooms would make it suitable for less mobile members of the party. Newton Ferrers enjoys an enviable location close to the many beaches and coves of the South Hams. At nearby Mothecombe, there are two beaches; the River Beach, which is a stretch of fine sand among rocks, and the River Mouth Beach, a very peaceful and attractive spot. It is privately owned but open to the public on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Here you will find a large cove of fine sand, rocks for climbing, sheltered nooks and cliff paths.

Main House - Lounge

Away from the beach but still quite near are the rugged tors of Dartmoor with excellent walking, hidden villages and character pubs. Within the village itself you will find a general store, Post Office and riverside pub, where on a hot day a cold drink and excellent meal can be enjoyed overlooking the water. Newton Ferrers has a small working beach at the bottom of the hill and many pleasant hours can be spent watching the small yachts and the pleasure craft on the water. Whether you need a quiet relaxing break or a more action packed holiday Maxdene will make you very comfortable and welcome.
