Laymore Cottage is a beautifully renovated, semi-detached cottage in the small hamlet of Laymore, close to the border of Dorset and Somerset. The location is ideal for touring South Somerset, East Devon and West Dorset and is within half an hour's drive of the beaches of Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Seatown. This stunning coastline, now a World Heritage Site, is part of the Jurassic Coast and excellent for fossil hunting.

 

Laymore Cottage is delightful throughout, stylishly furnished and decorated to a very high standard. The open plan living area is light and contemporary, with lovely oak floors, large comfy seating, a woodburner, flat screen TV and a radio, CD player. The kitchen has a Smeg oven with a useful, large utility room and cloakroom leading from it. Upstairs, the rooms are striking, painted brilliant white with splashes of colour in the pictures and delicate bed linens. In the enclosed garden there is an orchard, a patio with garden furniture and lovely views across the adjoining field to Blackmoor Vale. The cottage has gated, off road parking for two cars.

There are some lovely walks from Laymore including ones to the neighbouring villages of Winsham and Thorncombe. A two-minute stroll from the cottage is the Squirrel Pub, where food is served daily and families are welcome. The beautiful house and gardens of the Forde Abbey, a former Cistercian monastry, are only two miles away and families will love the nearby Wildlife Park at Cricket St Thomas, with its lemur wood and children's farm. The historic towns of Chard, Crewkerne, Bridport and Beaminster are all within easy reach and offer traditional shops, markets, pubs and restaurants.
