Laurel Cottage
Over 300 years old, Laurel Cottage is the epitome
of a traditional Devon cottage, on the edge of Dartmoor National
Park. Full of charm and character with a pretty, enclosed front
garden, Laurel Cottage is much more than just a holiday home.
Original beams, oak floors and an inglenook fireplace with
woodburner all add to the ambience of the cottage, which is
comfortable, welcoming and beautifully furnished throughout. Thick
stone walls ensure that Laurel Cottage is warm and cosy during the
winter and delightfully cool in the summer. There is a selection of
books, board games and DVDs for guests’ use. The kitchen is bright
and stylish with two steps leading to the bathroom and back door,
where the washer/dryer and freezer are stored in an outhouse. A
spiral, stone staircase leads to the lovely bedrooms, one with an
attractive feature fireplace; the staircase has a handrail but care
may be needed with children. A garage is available for a car or
secure storage of bicycles or sports equipment.
Horrabridge has the oldest bridge in West Devon
and two pubs; The London Inn, just yards from Laurel Cottage, and
the Leaping Salmon. Nearest Coastline:
Plymouth Sound, Newton Ferrers, the beaches at Wembury and
Bigbury-on-Sea.
Tourist Attractions:
Morwellham Quay, the National Trust properties of Cotehele House and
Saltram House. The market town of Tavistock, the cosmopolitan port
and city of Plymouth, outdoor pursuits on Dartmoor. Yelverton Golf
Course is three miles away.
