Luxborough boasts an excellent pub, The Royal Oak, recently voted the Best In Britain. This is a wonderful area for walking, many of which start from your door; for keener walkers a short drive takes you to the rolling hills of Exmoor. Part of the Avill Valley known as Snowdrop Valley is just a few miles away at Wheddon Cross. The Exmoor National Park Authority now manages this remote valley and in spring the whole area is a carpet of delicate white flowers. Planned walks take you along the river path and through quiet ancient woodland. For visits to the coast or shopping Dunster, Minehead and Watchet are all within eight miles. Sailing and fly-fishing can be enjoyed at Wimbleball Lake and horse riding is also available on Exmoor.
