Dainton is a peaceful hamlet well known for its excellent golf course and health club, which is just a short walk from The Garden Cottage. This popular golf course is open to non-members and an early booking is advisable. As well as the wonderful coast around Torbay and the South Hams, that are both within an easy drive, you will also find, closer to home, Dainton Common, an ancient Bronze Age Settlement, that is now an open area ideal for children to let off steam.

Within a few miles are two castles, Compton Castle owned by The National Trust and Berry Pomeroy Castle, now a ruin and reputed to be haunted by a lady in grey and an old knight; with lovely woodland walks and a delightful little café that welcomes children and dogs, this is a day out in itself. At nearby Newton Abbot is the Hedgehog Hospital at Prickly Ball Farm, Tuckers Maltings, where you can still see beer brewed in the traditional way, and the picturesque Cockington Country Park and village. The Garden Cottage is a detached, converted barn ideal for either for a couple or a small family. The open plan ground floor has been thoughtfully and comfortably furnished and from here a wooden spiral staircase leads to the two comfortable bedrooms. To the front and side of the cottage are a pretty patio area, a large lawn and parking.
