The Garden Apartment,
aptly named, overlooks the beautiful lawned grounds of the striking, stone
mansion house built in the 19th century for the Governor of Ceylon. The
spacious interior has rooms with high ceilings, casement windows,
comfortable furnishings and a Minster stone fireplace in the lounge. A
bright conservatory opens onto the marvellous lawns and gardens, with a
stunning variety of colourful plants, shrubs and flowers. Garden chairs are
available if required, enabling guests to relax in lovely surroundings and
enjoy the wonderful views beyond. |

The mansion is situated on the outskirts of the old part of Ivybridge,
making this an excellent base for touring South Devon's lovely coastline or
the Dartmoor National Park. Ivybridge itself has an excellent leisure
centre, riverside walks, craft shops, cafés, inns and a Tourist Information
Centre. Nearby, Buckfast Abbey, the historic towns of Totnes and Dartmouth,
local trout farms and vineyards, provide varied and interesting places to
visit. Saltram House, used in the film of Sense and Sensibility, is also
close by and well worth a visit.
