The village of
Timberscombe lies within the Exmoor National Park, in an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty. This magical, landscape offers 267
square miles of stunning scenery and coastline with wonderful
opportunities for those who enjoy walking, riding, cycling and
watching wildlife. Heritage and culture abound with castles,
museums, ancient ports and the nostalgia of the West Somerset Steam
Railway.
Dating back to the
1800’s, Game House was originally the village pub and still retains
much of its former character and charm; traditional features include
red tiled floors and brick fireplaces. This spacious house now has
five bedrooms, two shower rooms, a family bathroom, lounge, a snug
with television and Wii – ideal for children, a large farmhouse
kitchen with gas range cooker, utility room and an elegant dining
room. A stable door leads onto stone steps up to the lovely,
enclosed, cottage garden. Game House overlooks the small village
green and across to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor.
Timberscombe has two churches, a school, Post Office and the Lion
Inn serving good food and local beers.
