West Devon.

Once a pair of miner's cottages, this Victorian,
end of terrace property has been renovated to create a welcoming holiday
home. Retaining some of the original features, the cottage has a
tasteful blend of olde world charm combined with a contemporary feel.
There is a small garden with a patio area, tables, chairs and a barbecue
for relaxed outdoor meals or an evening drink. Bere Alston is a large,
lively village with a selection of family run shops and pubs. Set
slightly off the usual tourist route, this unspoilt peninsula of deep
wooded valleys and farmland, between the navigable reaches of the rivers
Tamar and Tavy, is very popular with yachtsmen. At the peninsula's tip
is Bere Ferrers, with its riverside pub and walks. Buckland Abbey,
Morwellham Quay ('ghost' river port) and the Garden House are all worth
a visit and are about three miles distant. The wild expanse of Dartmoor,
with its tors, coombes, ponies and sheep is right on your doorstep and
Yelverton boasts a renowned golf course. Plymouth and the sea are about
10 miles by road or, for a more unusual day out, Bere Alston has a
little train station from where a local train wends its way through the
most beautiful scenery to the city, so you can enjoy a good day out
without the car.

Tavistock, just a few miles away, is a thriving market town situated on
the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. In 2004, the town was voted top
of a list of 120 market towns by the Council for the Protection of Rural
England for its individuality and distinctiveness. The town has
interesting architecture, a great sense of history and thriving shops
and businesses, all with a local charm.
