Portwrinkle Beach is ideal for building sandcastles, beach games and
exploring rock pools at low tide and is reached via steepish paths. For
golfers, novice or experienced, the nearby Whitsand Bay Hotel course
offers a truly unique location and daily green fees are available. For
the energetic, the South Cornish Coast path passes Portwrinkle, leading
west to Looe and east to Cremyll, from where a foot ferry will take you
to Plymouth. Here you can visit the National Marine Aquarium, enjoy a
show at the Theatre Royal or explore the cobbled streets of the
Barbican, steeped in history and naval heritage, with a wonderful choice
of restaurants and pubs. The Eden Project, with its massive rain forest
and desert biomes is an easy drive from Portwrinkle, as are the pretty
harbour villages of Looe and Polperro.
