You get a tantalising glimpse of the sea before descending into the beautiful valley of Crockwood Farm. No longer a working farm, it has a tranquil country setting where you are free to wander through the acres of grounds which include a pine forest, stream and a lake. The top meadow is perfect for children, with a specially built play area with swings, slide and rope ladders to entertain all ages, as well as space for ball games and kite flying. From here, you have a beautiful view of the coastline of Bude Bay and the energetic can walk to the sea. For those seeking peace and tranquillity, there is a walkway through the lower meadow to the lake where you can sit and enjoy the silence. In the spring there are flowers everywhere and this beautiful countryside provides a natural habitat for wildlife. Bude Bay is right on your doorstep with sandy beaches, some for surfing and some for simply sunbathing, all flanked by spectacular cliffs and rocky ramparts that are the landmark of the North Cornwall/Devon Coast.

Crockwood Farmhouse is reached through a private, gated garden. Scented Lemon Verbena climbs the wall and there are cherry and fig trees. Inside, the accommodation is very spacious and has tremendous character. There are two feature inglenook fireplaces, deep windowsills and a wealth of beams including an unusual crooked beam in the bedroom. A scarlet, oil-fired Aga gives an old farmhouse feel to the kitchen. Upstairs, the master bedroom has an opulent en-suite bathroom with corner bath, hand shower and gold fittings and the décor includes some artistic stencilling and ‘Tuscany’ fabrics. The twin bedded room has French doors opening onto a balcony; an ideal spot to enjoy an evening drink while the sun goes down. From the lawned garden, which has a summerhouse and barbecue, there are lovely views down the valley.
