Venture just a little further afield and
you will find out why this area is one of Britain’s favourite holiday
locations. The little towns of Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are all
within easy reach of Colmer. They are full of character with delightful
shops, restaurants and waterside hostelries. Local delicacies include
Dart Salmon and a wide range of local cheeses, all of which can be
washed down with a glass of wine from the local Sharpham vineyard. The
many South Hams beaches include Blackpool Sands and Bigbury-on-Sea, from
where you can reach Burgh Island on foot or by sea tractor. Miller’s
Loft is part of what was originally the old mill and granary. It has a
pretty front garden with a picnic bench and parasol and is centrally
situated for all the facilities on the Estate. Inside, the living room
has comfortable leather sofas with cream and terracotta soft
furnishings.

Indoor Facilities
On the first
floor of the INDOOR POOL complex
is a FITNESS ROOM with a range
of cardio-vascular exercise equipment. The small
GAMES ROOM has a pool table.
Outdoor Facilities
The OUTDOOR HEATED SWIMMING POOL
is occasionally fed by a waterfall, which tumbles over the mouth of
a cave. For younger children, there are swings and a large, cabin
style Wendy house that has a slide down the roof. Older children
will love the Woodland Adventure Play Area and
TABLE TENNIS. The hard TENNIS COURT can be booked for
games on a same-day basis (bring your own racquets and balls). For
less energetic pursuits, you can borrow a set of
BOULES or
CROQUET for a game on the lawns beside Colmer House.
From the croquet lawn, a boardwalk leads through the water garden to
the lake, which is stocked for COARSE
FISHING with large Carp and Golden Rudd. A minimum of
three stands will be available through the year. You will need to
bring your own fishing tackle and have an appropriate licence. |
