Colmer is set in the centre of the idyllic South Hams of Devon, surrounded by 28 acres of grounds, which vary from landscaped lawns and walled gardens to wild woodland and meadows. Add to this a range of year-round indoor and outdoor facilities and you have the ingredients that create the perfect holiday. Each property is privately owned and enjoys its own style and individuality. Choose between the Georgian splendour of Colmer House and the charming, old, stone buildings of Colmer's original farming estate, which have been converted into rustic cottages that combine traditional character with modern convenience.

Colmer is not only an ideal summertime retreat; during the cooler months you can enjoy the indoor heated pool complex with its fitness room. Fishing is available on the private lake and there is a tennis court and croquet lawn.


 

There are plenty of tranquil spots where you can unwind, escape into a good book or take out your watercolours and produce that masterpiece. With so much to enjoy at Colmer you will be tempted never to leave. However, venture just a little further afield and you will find out why this area is one of Britain’s favourite holiday locations.The little towns of Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are all within easy reach of Colmer. They are full of character with delightful shops, restaurants and waterside hostelries. Local delicacies include Dart Salmon and a wide range of local cheeses, all of which can be washed down with a glass of wine from the local Sharpham vineyard. The many South Hams beaches include Bigbury-on-Sea, from where you can reach Burgh Island on foot or by sea tractor.

Indoor Facilities
On the first floor of the INDOOR POOL complex is a FITNESS ROOM with a range of cardio-vascular exercise equipment. The small GAMES ROOM has a pool table.
 
Outdoor Facilites
The OUTDOOR HEATED SWIMMING POOL is occasionally fed by a waterfall, which tumbles over the mouth of a cave, which houses a BARBECUE and TABLE TENNIS. For younger children, there are swings and a large, cabin style Wendy house that has a slide down the roof. Older children will love the Woodland Adventure Play Area.
 

The hard TENNIS COURT can be booked for games on a same-day basis (bring your own racquets and balls). For less energetic pursuits, you can borrow a set of BOULES or CROQUET set for a game on the lawns beside Colmer House. From the croquet lawn, a boardwalk leads through the water garden to the lake, which is stocked for COARSE FISHING with large Carp and Golden Rudd. A minimum of three stands will be available through the year. You will need to bring your own fishing tackle and have an appropriate licence.
The acres of varied habitat make Colmer a nature lover's paradise. Meadows, woodland, water meadows, the watergardens and the lake attract hundreds of species of birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Badgers have 'sett' up home within the estate and foxes, deer, squirrels, hedgehogs and rabbits are among the many animals that can be spotted. Sit quietly in a secluded spot and your patience cannot fail to be rewarded. So don’t forget your binoculars!

DARTMOUTH GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB. Colmer has close links with the golf club, which is only 10 minutes drive away. Guests at Colmer have the benefit of a holiday membership, which gives a 25% discount on the green fees for the championship standard golf course and on all health and leisure facilities.
