Cider Cottage is one of a group of attractive cottages facing a landscaped courtyard, which has an antique cider press as its central feature. Inside, the cottage is furnished in traditional English country style and the two pretty bedrooms each have their own bathroom. The kitchen opens onto a small, level and enclosed rear garden. There is a very pleasant walk to the village shop and pub, just half a mile away. This is a lovely base from which to explore East Devon. The nearby cathedral city of Exeter offers theatres, restaurants, shopping, museums and walking tours. Honiton is famous for its lace and antique shops and National Trust properties in the area include Knightshayes Court, Killerton House and A La Ronde. To the south there is an extensive sandy beach at Exmouth, where you can catch a passenger ferry to Starcross and visit the beach and nature reserve at Dawlish Warren. Regular boat trips are available on the Exe Estuary, a great favourite with keen bird watchers. Sidmouth has dramatic soaring cliffs and Georgian and Regency architecture. The World Heritage coastline of Lyme Bay offers wonderful walking on the coastal path and opportunities for fossil hunting. The whole of East Devon is also the home of the cream tea, often found under a picturesque thatched roof.
