Chyandour is Cornish for ‘house by the water’ and is the perfect rural retreat for a ‘get away from it all’ holiday. A detached barn conversion, the property is set in four acres of grounds, which includes the owners’ farmhouse, a bluebell wood, a wildlife pond and stream. A path follows the stream, over a little wooden bridge to the pond where you can sit and watch the ducks and dragonflies. Chyandour is mostly on one level, but there are two steps from the attractive lounge/diner to the kitchen and shower room. A door leads from the kitchen to a private sitting area with lovely countryside views. Situated on the southern most edge of Bodmin Moor, on the slopes of Caradon Hill, the area is a World Heritage Site and offers wonderful walks, horse riding, cycling, fishing and an abundance of wildlife. The village of Pensilva is two miles away with the ancient market town of Launceston about eight miles to the north.

Nearest Coastline: The beaches of South East Cornwall including Looe, Seaton and Whitsand Bay.

Tourist Attractions: Bodmin Moor’s many granite tors including the Cheesewring and the Hurlers Stone Circle, and the Jamaica Inn Hotel and restaurant. Sailing, water skiing, canoeing and windsurfing at Siblyback Lake. Horse riding at nearby Henwood. Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium, Barbican and Hoe. The Sterts Open Air Theatre at Upton Cross.
