Cheese Cottage is a very pretty, detached, Grade II listed cottage in the small hamlet of Laymore, close to the border of Dorset and Somerset and situated within the grounds of the owner’s 16th Century farmhouse. It is within a short drive of the stunning Jurassic Coast and beaches of Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Seatown. Originally built for the production of cheese, on what was once a dairy farm, the cottage has retained some wonderful period features including the original bread oven, cheese cupboards and brick tiled floors.
The bright, country-style kitchen/diner looks onto the lovely garden and patio and features a traditional Stanley oven and butler sink. In the lounge a large multi-fuel burner ensures extra warmth for those cooler evenings and there is a selection of board games to enjoy. Upstairs the attractive bedrooms, furnished in soothing pastel shades, are surprisingly spacious and light.

There are some lovely walks from Laymore including those to the neighbouring villages of Winsham and Thorncombe. Within a short walk you can enjoy the hospitality of the Squirrel Pub, where food is served daily and families are welcome. The beautiful house and gardens of Forde Abbey, a former Cistercian monastry, are a five-minute drive away and young and old will love the nearby Wildlife Park at Cricket St Thomas, with its lemur wood and children’s farm. For traditional shops and markets the historic towns of Chard, Crewkerne, Bridport and Beaminster are all within easy reach.

Barbecues are not permitted due to a nearby thatched roof.
There are two steps into the cottage combined with a low doorway.

Accommodation: Ground Floor: Lounge. Kitchen/Diner.
First Floor: Bedroom 1 with double bed. Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Bathroom with bath, shower, hand shower, WC and washbasin.

Facilities: Electric hob (single plate induction hob), Oil-fired Stanley Oven, Microwave combi-oven and grill, Refrigerator, Freezer, Washing Machine, Parking, Groceries may be ordered in advance, Colour Television with Freeview, DVD Player,
Payphone(1 1/2miles) Shop(1 1/2miles) Bus(1 1/2miles) Train(5miles) Inn/Pub(200yards) Full Central Heating. Electricity & Heating inclusive high season, Heating Supplement £25 per week out of season. Multi-fuel Stove fuel starter pack provided then purchase from owner. Duvets provided. Bed Linen & Towels inclusive. Pets not allowed.
