Just outside Axminster and in a peaceful, rural location, Chattan Stable is a lovely, single storey barn conversion. There are a few steps, from the parking area, down to a pretty patio, complete with tubs of flowers and specimen plants, a patio table, chairs and parasol. Inside, the conversion has been done sympathetically to retain all the original character of the barn, whilst providing a modern kitchen, a comfortable living area and an excellent shower room for each attractive bedroom. There are some lovely walks from your doorstep, including a footpath to Axminster, where bustling streets lead to a shady green where the church overlooks the attractive town centre with its many coaching inns. Honiton is renowned for its lace and antique shops and at Chard, to the north, two streams border the attractive town centre and handsome Guildhall. On the way to Chard you can detour to Forde Abbey, once a 12th century Cistercian monastery and now a country house famous for its tapestries and water and rock gardens. You can explore the Axe Estuary on the narrow-gauge tramway, which runs from Colyton to Seaton, or browse around the narrow, picturesque streets and harbour at Lyme Regis and try your hand at fossil hunting on the Jurassic coast, now a World Heritage Site.
