Breaches Barn is, at first sight, reminiscent of a
mediaeval great hall; a huge, wide open living space with high raftered
ceilings, exposed brickwork and oak timbers. Much of its original character
has been retained providing a comfortable and versatile family home. The
spacious living room, which has a woodburner, is furnished in soft shades of
yellow and terracotta and has deep comfy sofas, one of which can be
converted into a double bed. The large dining area has a huge pine table and
matching dresser where you can banquet in style! The kitchen is far from
mediaeval in that it has wonderful modern conveniences such as a dishwasher,
freezer, washing machine, along with an excellent oven and halogen hob.
There are patio doors to the garden, a fenced area complete with garden
furniture, which overlooks open countryside. Upstairs is a galleried sitting
room with a second television and twin stacker beds, which can be used as
extra sleeping accommodation if needed. The original hay chutes, on what is
now the landing, have been retained as a feature, but are safely sealed off.
The three bedrooms all have rustic charm, combining exposed rafters, lots of
natural wood, rugs and pretty soft furnishings. |

West Park Farm is part of a working beef and arable farm. You are
welcome to explore the farm, which has a large pond and a bluebell
wood and, after checking with the owner, you may occasionally be
able to lend a hand. There is a hard tennis court, which you are
welcome to use (please bring your own equipment) and the owner will
provide home cooked meals to order. Rockbourne is a very pretty
village where the all-important local hostelry is surrounded by
clusters of thatched cottages and a stream hemmed with graceful
willows. The New Forest, 145 square miles of wood and heathland
where herds of red, roe and fallow deer roam with the famous New
Forest ponies, is just five miles away. Bournemouth, Salisbury with
its famous cathedral, Stonehenge, Lymington and even The Isle of
Wight are all destinations for a day out.
