Bowden House, originally part of Bowden Mill, is a
superb Grade II listed building deep in the heart of the Dartmoor
National Park. Once a millworker’s cottage, the property adjoins the
granary and retains many original features including granite walls and
an impressive Inglenook fireplace. Bowden House overlooks a beautiful
garden and the Mill Stream which can be crossed via a wooden bridge. Inside the cottage, the décor and furnishings
are of the highest standard, with personal touches throughout. The
ambience is warm and homely, conjuring up images of family gatherings,
cosy nights by the fire, lazy Sunday mornings and the smell of freshly
baked bread; the original bread oven still forms part of the kitchen.
With traditional home comforts, plasma televisions in three bedrooms, a
bathroom with a Slipper bath and a luxury shower room, Bowden House is
ideal for families or couples. In fine weather, relax and enjoy the
peace and quiet of the countryside on the cobbled patio behind the
cottage, or sit in the beautiful garden and listen to the babbling water
of the stream. For dining or enjoying a few drinks, The Ring of Bells
which is Egon Ronay Recommended, is just a mile or so away. |
