Situated in gentle rolling countryside of the Devonshire heartland, the hamlet of Washfield is a country lover's paradise, with an abundance of birdlife and wildlife. Here you will find some of the finest walking and cycling in South West England via a network of dedicated footpaths and quiet country lanes. The location is ideal for exploring the whole of Devon and is within easy reach of Exmoor, Dartmoor and the Jurassic coast resorts.

Barn Court Cottage is an attractive, detached cottage situated in the grounds of the owner's home on a small private lane. There is a large courtyard at the front of the cottages with plenty of parking and access to the utility shed. The cottage has a private patio with garden furniture and you are welcome to enjoy the attractive garden, with picnic tables, a trampoline and a summer house. Just along the lane is an 8-acre field with wildlife lake - a delight to explore. From the courtyard there are four steps up to the front door, into the kitchen/diner, with views over the patio and fields. The cosy lounge has a selection of board games and a CD player/radio. Upstairs, the pretty bedrooms have lovely Egyptian cotton bed linen. Tiverton is three miles away and has a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. The museum and castle are well worth a visit. Just north of Tiverton lies the beautiful countryside and stunning coastline of Exmoor National Park. Explore the area by foot, bicycle or on horseback. Activities to try include hang-gliding, watersports, sailing and fishing. A ten-minute drive from the cottage is the striking Victorian mansion and gardens of the National Trust's Knightshayes Court. The Rose and Crown Inn at Calverleigh serves excellent food and is about a twenty-minute walk.
