Appledore Cottage is a quintessential country cottage, with a large garden, set in lovely quiet rural area on the edge of the magnificent Blackdown Hills, it enjoys spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. This charming, semi-detached cottage has beamed ceilings, comfortable furniture and a roaring fire in the lounge. The kitchen has freestanding units, a flagstone floor and an oil fired Rayburn, which is really quite easy to use, as well as a microwave combi-oven and the Victorian style bathroom is complete with a roll top bath. Appledore Cottage is a perfect retreat for a quiet Romantic Break, or as a base for touring this delightful area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Blackdown Hills form a tranquil landscape on the Devon and Somerset border. Steep ridges, high plateaux, valleys and springs create a stunning mosaic of countryside dotted with farms, villages and ancient features all of which can be enjoyed on foot, by bicycle, or by driving through the pretty country lanes. Nearby Wellington is an interesting small country town that has a large number of speciality shops including gift shops, craft shops, a music shop and an old-fashioned ironmonger. Local meats and cheeses are available and there is an excellent fish shop. Also within an easy drive is Tiverton, once the centre of the woollen industry. Coldharbour Mill, a 200 year old spinning mill at nearby Uffculme, is now the only one that remains, a visit here and perhaps a trip along the Grand Western Canal exploring onboard a traditional horse-drawn barge makes a good day out.
