Letting Your Property with West Country Cottages Letting your property for holidays should be considered as a business and we expect our owners to take their responsibilities seriously. Booking Availability West Country Cottages books properties every week of the year and low season short breaks are becoming increasingly popular. We ask that you make your property available for letting throughout the high season period, Spring Bank Holiday to the end of September. You can choose to take up to four weeks, for your own use, in this period but no more than two weeks within the school summer holidays. We understand that some owners may find this too restrictive and we, therefore, try to be as flexible as possible. In the low season you can make as much use of your property as you wish. Standards Today's holidaymakers are very discerning and their expectations are high. For their holiday, they are looking for a 'home from home'. Your property should be spotlessly clean on their arrival and, it goes without saying, particular attention to kitchens, bathrooms and toilets is essential. It is also very important to maintain the standard of furnishings, fittings, linen, décor and contents, particularly kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery. |

| First impressions are so important in making your holidaymakers feel at home. Fresh flowers and a welcoming tea tray will be very well received. Some of our owners also provide a cream tea or a bottle of wine in the fridge. The outside — gardens, courtyards and patios require the same attention to detail as the inside. If holidaymakers feel that you have made an effort, they will respect your property and look after it. The wear and tear will then be greatly reduced. Some of our owners hold a refundable Security Deposit to cover the cost of any accidental damage. If you are new to holiday letting – don't worry, we can provide you with a list of minimum requirements for your cottage. | |

Safety The safety of your guests is clearly important to you and needs to be taken into account when choosing floor covering and furnishings, which should comply with current fire regulations. Regular electrical safety and, if relevant, gas or oil safety checks are also essential. Self-catering properties should be fitted with smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. |
