Introduction

West Country Cottages is a family-run business, now into its second generation. Many of our staff have been with us for over a decade, with years of valuable experience in looking after our cottage owners and anticipating the needs of holidaymakers. Thanks to our effective marketing campaigns, we have increased our bookings every year since 2004. We visit every property, get to know our owners and are always available to address any queries. If your personal Property Manager is temporarily unavailable, another key member of staff will be on hand to help you. Our aim is to achieve the maximum level of bookings as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Letting your property should be a pleasure as well as a business.

1984 Devon Cottages was founded, in the heart of the West Country. Our brochure featured sepia photographs of our properties and archive prints of Devon. Thanks to the close working relationships we built from the start, many of our early property owners still have their properties with us today.

1988 We moved into purpose built offices in Abbotskerswell and Devon Cottages expanded into Dorset. Our first Property Manager joined the company.

1990 We welcomed our first owners in Cornwall.

1992 Our first colour brochure was designed and published by SouthSide Publishing, the company we still use today.

1993 We expanded our area to include Somerset and the company was renamed West Country Cottages.

1999 Our on-line brochure was launched. This was an immediate success, broadening our marketing and increasing our bookings.

2003 We were joined by owners in the New Forest and moved into larger offices at Dainton Manor Estate – more efficient but still just as close to our owners.

2006 We improved our payment system for owners and on-line availability was introduced.

2008 SWIFT, our bespoke booking system, was launched, integrating every aspect of our business. Reservations can be made in real time and processed more quickly and efficiently.

2009 We celebrate our Silver Anniversary with our highest level of bookings and published our largest ever brochure.
